Work Tips: Signs You Need To Take A Break From Work

Everyone needs to take a break from work every now and then, whether it is a short-term break or a longer-term vacation. Being overworked or overstressed has an emotional impact on not only your physical health, but also mental health. Below are a few tips to help you recognize when you need to chill out and take a break from it all:


  • Small mistakes. Do you notice yourself making small mistakes at work? In the business of pharmacy this is something you need to avoid. Small mistakes can have a profound impact on patients and pharmacy customers. Mistakes, even small ones, can cause patient harm or death.


  • Lack of motivation. Do you find yourself not being able to help out other technicians when they need it? Tech Check Tech is a very important part of working in a pharmacy and being able to double check yourself, the pharmacist, or another technician. If you are lacking the motivation to keep going in these areas, then a break is in order.


  • Health Risks. Getting too stressed because of work can do things like raise your blood pressure, heart rate, and put you at risk for a heart attack or stroke.  Be sure to keep track of these vitals on a regular basis so your stress level stays under control.


            Taking a break from work is essential to being more productive than ever. Talk to your manager, supervisor, or HR department to see if you can take some time off. It does not hurt to ask, and it will help your mind, body, and spirit.
