Upcoming NIOSH Health and Safety Practices Survey of Healthcare Workers
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is conducting the online Health and Safety Practices Survey of Healthcare Workers with the assistance of their contractor, Westat. You have been selected to receive this invitation and complete the survey. NPTA encourages you to participate in the survey as we are very interested in any data which can lead to your improved health and safety. The results will be of use both to NIOSH and to NPTAand our members.
The survey asks about health and safety practices and types of exposure controls used by healthcare workers who handle or come in contact with hazardous chemicals. The chemical agents under study include antineoplastic agents, high level disinfectants, chemical sterilants, anesthetic gases, surgical smoke, and aerosolized medications. Information regarding other health and safety hazards is also being collected. The survey will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
While your participation is very important for the success of this effort, your choice to participate is completely voluntary. Your responses to all questions will be kept secure. No personal identifiers such as name, address, email address or phone number will be recorded.
A summary report based upon responses from all respondents of NPTAwill be made available to you within six months of the completion of the survey. The data from this survey may lead to improved health and safety of healthcare workers. Please accept our thanks in advance for making a difference and completing this important survey.
